22 Nov Presentations to the Japanese Community Core Leaders Development Programme 9-16 October 2017
A delegation of nine people from Japan who work in disability services visited New Zealand 9- 16 October 2017 on a study tour as part of a Community Core Leaders Development Programme. NZDSN was proud to jointly host the delegation with the Office for Disability Issues.
The delegation theme was to learn the cultural background and social systems in New Zealand where people comprehend social barriers as the main cause of disabilities; practising the new knowledge to establish a system applicable in respective communities in Japan, thereby resolving negative recognition against “disabilities” to pursuit a society where anyone can believe in their potential and roles.
We were delighted and deeply appreciated the input and support of disability support providers to be able to provide an impressive itinerary for the delegation that reflected the diversity of our sector, and the commitment and passion of providers in their work.
The study tour started in Wellington with a day of presentations from the Office for Disability Issues and NZDSN, and the Ministries of Health (including representatives from the System Transformation team), Social Development, and Education. These presentations are available on the Office for Disability Issues website.
The delegation then had a day of presentations from providers and disabled peoples organisations in Wellington before travelling to Auckland for three days of visits to, and presentations from providers in the region.
Here is the full list of providers who were involved, and presentations from those who have made them available.
