03 Mar Ministerial Announcements
Minister Wagner has made announcements regarding a co-design process for a nationwide transformation of the disability support system. The transformation will initially focus on those receiving support from Disability Support Services in the Mid-Central region (around Palmerston North). The Waikato demonstration will continue, as will the arrangements put in place in Christchurch when that demonstration finished.
It will also incorporate a new social investment approach to improve outcomes for individuals and achieve savings over the long term. Additional funding has been allocated to run the co-design process, establish a change leadership team and collect baseline data.
The implementation of the transformation will be led by the Ministry of Health. Sasha O’Dea has been appointed to lead the process and will start at the Ministry of Health on 13 March 2017.
