08 Jun MSD Health and Disability Reference Group
The Health and Disability Long Term Work Programme aim is to increase the number of disabled people, including long-term unemployed disabled people, in paid employment on an equal basis with others. It is being led by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and contributes to the Disability Action Plan, and focuses on Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Work and employment which recognises the right of disabled people to work on an equal basis with others.
The work programme was developed with the health and disability sector. MSD and other agencies are now implementing the work programme. This work is being supported with the MSD Health and Disability Reference Group providing ongoing guidance and advice. NZDSN has two representatives on the reference group:
Sarah Halliday firstname.lastname@example.org
Garth Bennie email@example.com
