21 Aug Draft Violence in Healthcare GPG for second consultation
WorkSafe New Zealand is seeking feedback on the draft guidance – Managing the Risk of Violence in the Health and Disability Sector: Guidance for PCBUs.
In 2009, WorkSafe New Zealand published the Good Practice Guide Managing the Risk of Workplace Violence to Healthcare and Community Service Providers. As a part of their work with ACC’s Harm Reduction project focused on key risks in Healthcare, WorkSafe New Zealand are taking the opportunity to revise and re-focus this guidance.
In May of this year (2019), WorkSafe New Zealand consulted publicly on the draft guideline Violence in the Healthcare Industry: Guidance for PCBUs. You may have been invited to participate at that time, and you may have submitted feedback to WorkSafe New Zealand. WorkSafe New Zealand have said that the submissions they received have enabled significant refining of the draft, and started some valuable discussion. Subsequently they are consulting again on this new version, through the Central Region District Health Board Technical Advisory Services (TAS), unions, and organisations that are a part of WorkSafe New Zealand’s own stakeholder group (NZDSN is recognised by Worksafe New Zealand as a stakeholder).
NZDSN will be making a submission – if you have feedback you would like NZDSN to incorporate into our submission please contact Sara Georgeson by 13 September 2019.
Submissions need to reach WorkSafe New Zealand at GuidanceandEducationDevelopment@Worksafe.govt.nz by Friday 20 September, 5pm.
