Strategic Plan 2011-16
NZDSN Kia tu tahi tatou - Stand strong as one
In June 2011, the NZDSN Board reviewed NZDSN’s strategic vision and purpose. Reflecting on our first year and the challenges faced by our member organisations we have distilled our core vision. We are about creating opportunities for people to have access to everyday life.
Our Vision
Our vision is an inclusive New Zealand. Everything we say and do must seek to bring about a society that respects and includes all its citizens in every aspect of life.
Our Purpose
Leading and influencing the changes we seek to support an inclusive society.
Our Priorities
We need great people: We will be a leading voice to promote a skilled and well trained workforce We will promote best practice and innovation in the sector, through leadership and participation We will ensure strong regional and national organisational networks
We must be influential and visable: We will be recognised as the voice of disability providers We will engage with government agencies to provide policy advice and information We will work alongside and collaboratively with international organisations and other peak bodies We will influence communities, local authorities, health sector, MPs and media We will seek out opportunities to provide expert comment and advice on key sector issues We will work with disability and family owned organisations on projects of mutual concern
We must contribute our collective knowledge and experience: We will influence research and development across the sector We will promote, demonstrate, and describe achievements and benefits on behalf of our member organisations
We must be sustainable
