MoH review of residential services work programme

This update provides you with information on the programme of work to review the way residential support services are contracted for and delivered.

The Ministry of Health is undertaking this programme of work because consumers and providers have asked them to consider changes to the way residential support services are contracted for and delivered.

It is part of the Disability Support Services Group’s strategic direction following the Government response to the Social Services Select Committee’s “Inquiry into the Quality of Care and Services Provision for People with Disabilities”.

A comprehensive piece of work has not been done in this area recently and there is a need to align current thinking with potential future service models. There is also a need to bring together existing and future pieces of work about residential support services under one work programme.
