People in an inclusive society
On Wednesday 16 March, NZDSN came together to celebrate the new network for disability support providers, to explore how inclusion is happening within our community and to ask 'Are we fostering an inclusive society?'
Purpose
The conference explored the following concepts:
- Being: Reflecting the now, what does life offer to disabled people in today's society, what are the limitations to full participation, how do we enhance opportunity, what are some examples of success and some things learned
- Belonging: When you are missed when you are not there, a sense of belonging in society has occurred, the person has been supported to the extent needed to be successful
- Becoming: Having a voice, being heard, being a decision maker about where to live, who to live with, relationships, having passion and hopes
